Personal Training: What To Expect

At Wise & Prime, we believe in making exercise as simple and as enjoyable as possible to maximise your chances of success. This is quite simply because the more you enjoy it the more likely you are to keep training and as a result, the more likely you are to make progress and stay motivated long term. 

The Taster Session

Before your taster session, you’ll be asked to fill in a short form which will give us a better idea of what you’re looking to achieve and what your goals and barriers are.

On the day, we recommend trying to get a good night's sleep, make sure you’re well hydrated and have eaten some carbohydrates about 30-60 minutes beforehand. This could be a banana, some oats or toast and it will give you some fuel for the session.

On arrival, you will be greeted by your Personal Trainer of choice and they will show you how to register your car (if you have driven) for free parking. They will then escort you to the studio where you will start the session by going through your completed health form. This will be the perfect opportunity to discuss your goals and barriers so that your PT can create the perfect program for you.

After this, it’s time to go through some mobility drills and locate any restrictions in your movement. Following this, we will go through some key functional movement patterns and finally finish with a short aerobic test. This will give your Personal Trainer a rough idea of your current strength and fitness levels so that we can plan your sessions accordingly.

Your First PT Session

Once you have decided on a time and date and are all set up with our training app, it’s time to get started. Each session will comprise of a warm-up, a strength focus, a circuit and a cool-down (stretching) and over the course of 4 sessions, you should see an improvement in your strength and fitness across every muscle group.

The idea is that over time, you continue to progress until you can complete every movement with the full range of motion assisted, then unassisted and finally with added load.

The end goal is that you build a strong, fit and balanced physique that enables you to thrive and get the most out of life.
